Crepes Ooh La La — Walnut Creek
The former Crepes a Go Go is back in a new downtown location.
Crepes Ooh La La won’t ever be accused of overstretching its culinary boundaries—crepes are the only thing on the menu. The former Crepes a Go Go recently reopened a couple blocks away from its old downtown Walnut Creek spot, and luckily for cheap eats fans, the crepes are as satisfying and inexpensive as ever.
The many savory options offer great value for a quick lunch. The house special is an excellent choice: two eggs, two slices of smoked turkey, and cheese (choice of Swiss, cheddar, Jack, or ricotta) for $6.25. Prices range from $4 for the plain cheese to $7.50 for the cheese, smoked salmon, and spinach.
Sweeter dishes range from the simple crepe with sugar and butter for $2.50 to the chocolate, raspberry, and strawberry for $8. If you’ve got a real sweet tooth, check out the King Lias (also known as “the sweetest crepe on the menu”), offering a supersaccharine punch of Nutella, banana, almond powder, coconut, and whipped cream ($6).
Pump It Up: Adding chicken to any crepe costs an additional $2.50 but offers excellent value, bulking up your crepe to a burritolike girth.
Forget Paris: Despite the Parisian photos on the wall, Eiffel Tower models, and French tunes coming from the speakers, the eatery, with its somewhat bare interior, will never be mistaken for a cozy bistro in the City of Lights—but the service is quick and friendly.
