Several new meal delivery companies are dishing up homemade taste without all the shopping, prepping, and slaving over the stove.

What it is: This veteran Oakland delivery service offers three to four daily entrées that arrive cooked and cold, as well as frozen meals.
The chef: Owner May Louie-Franco attended San Francisco’s Tante Marie’s Cooking School (since closed). This is real home cooking.
The menu: Entrée options rarely repeat, and there’s always something vegetarian and heart healthy. All meals include a salad and fresh roll, plus veggies and dessert on Fridays.
Fave meals: We love the juicy pork tenderloin with baked yams, and the savory beef Burgundy served over noodles.

What it is: Meals from Munchery arrive cooked but chilled for freshness, so all you need to do is heat them up.
The chefs: Acclaimed chefs, ranging from Gitane alum Bridget Batson to Scott Newman (formerly of Rubicon), create the recipes.
The menu: The daily changing menu includes the name of the chef who prepared the dish, nutritional info, customer reviews, and more.
Fave meals: Try the lemon basil salmon with roasted potatoes, sweet corn mushroom lasagna, or sushi (pictured left).

What it is: The Berkeley-based business specializes in organic, gluten-free, and sustainably sourced entrées that serve three to four people, which are delivered throughout Lamorinda and Walnut Creek.
The chef: Owner and Orinda resident Sharon Girdlestone also makes magical (and healthy) cakes and cupcakes, which can be ordered through the website.
The menu: A weekly menu is posted Wednesdays, and one to two entrées are available daily. All menu items are non-GMO, organic, and gluten free, and you can also order pantry staples such as chicken stock and granola.
Fave meals: Cauliflower kung pao and red peppers stuffed with organic chicken are must-trys.

What it is: Founded in Burlingame in 2005, Sous Kitchen delivers fully assembled, uncooked meals in six states. All meals, which serve up to eight, are vacuum sealed, frozen, and ready to cook.
The chefs: Chefs make spice blends, marinades, and sauces in-house, and use only all-natural meats and free-range chickens.
The menu: The monthly changing menu features up to 30 tasty offerings and indicates spice levels and flavor profiles.
Fave meals: Order whiskey-glazed beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes or Big Easy jambalaya.
